4 month old previously sleeping through

My 4 month old has been, up until a fortnight ago, for a month or so, sleeping 7pm-6.30am without waking. Two weeks ago she was poorly with the flu, blocked nose, chesty cough etc. She stopped taking milk and we ended up in hospital to get her checked over. Thankfully she was only in one night.

Over the last 10 days we have been increasing her feeds as she was only taking 2oz every three hours when ill (when well she was taking 5 feeds of between 6-8oz per feed per day).

She is finally taking her 'normal' feeds again and thriving and very well. Obviously through all of this she was back to waking during the night at around 11pm and 3am for milk. Obviously I was just happy that she was finally eating so didnt mind the wakings, but now that she is back to 5 daytime bottles of 8oz again, I am wondering if there is something else waking her at night?

Her last feed is 6.30pm after a bath and she has a morning feed at around 7am. Last night she woke at 11pm and took a full feed, woke again at 3am but only ate a couple of oz, and at 6.30 when she woke this morning again only ate 2 oz. I don't think she is waking due to hunger, but once she is awake, she seems to need a bit of milk to get back to sleep.

Obviously, had she never slept through, I wouldn't think twice about this, but she was doing it so consistantly that I am wondering why she hasn't slipped back into it now, and I am worrying that she is waking from habit, rather than any real need.

I know I am lucky to have had that month of sleeps through, and always knew that if she was unwell or had a growth spurt it may change, im just wondering if it could be something else. Her nappies are incredibly full in the mornings, could it be that which is waking her?

Sleep famously goes wonky at 4 months - sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Also it often goes wierd after illnesses. I would just ride with it for a bit in the hope she will revert to her previous habits. It could be a million different things she's waking for - a cuddle, some liquids, anything really.

It's the 4 month sleep regression!

Sorry to say that my 7 month old DD has still not recovered from hers!

And it's not habit, it is a need. Even if that need isn't food. She could need a cuddle, reassurance just a much.

4 month sleep regression. My DD went from sleeping through to waking 4-5 times a night. It was hell but we just went with it. It gradually got better and she started sleeping through again around 6.5 months.

Oh a regression. That would explain things. Oh well, I suppose this is what maternity leave is for. Will continue to offer milk and cuddles then. Thanks
