settling baby in cot - consistency of approach between partners

Hello, does anyone have any ideas/tips please? DS 5 months went into cot a fortnight ago (previously co slept). He is doing really well, once settled will sleep for a couple hours before next feed and wakes yo smiling in morning. The difficulty lies in my DH and I settling him in different ways. DH finds it impossible to copy someone, he is naturally stubborn to the nth degree. I am settling ds in cot, including some crying (whilst I cuddle him reaching in to cot), but dh just picks him up, so undoing my hard work (i put it like that because I do almost all wake ups to bf as ds sleeping well after settling so usually due a feed).
I have asked him to try reaaly hard to go against his nature and just do as I do in this case, to give ds the consistency he needs. Does anyone know someone like this and any techniques they can try to help in a situation where they need to be compliant?

Update - I've just put him down after one of thrse dh episodes and he's settling for me without too much fuds (hand currently firmly on his shoulder). Maybe my consistency can still work and not be immediately undermind?

Yes - well if you think about it, he doesn't expect boob from DH? If it doesn't work then by all means try again with your DH. However he's going to have to learn (and you) to be consistent as your ds gets older! Not sure what you mean about bein compliant though, does your DH think he's being told what to do and that your rules are The Rules?

Iggly, thanks for the thoughts. Yes he probably does think I'm telling him what to do and finds that annoying. Maybe I will suggest to him that we come up with a plan for ds's nights together.

Good plan. DH and I used to have different ways of settling ds in his cot and it took a lot of discussion to sort it Grin we got there in the end though.
