How do I get DD out of the sling?

DD (8 wo) will only nap in my Moby wrap and, while convenient for going out, is driving me mad. I'd love to be able to put her down stationary for a nap so I can have some proper play time with DS.

Anyone got any tips/success stories on how to transition it when might be a good time to try? She won't sleep in our shiny new double buggy unfortunately...

I'm assuming the sling is quite snug and cosy for her, haven't used one personally, but what about a swaddle blanket? It's the only way DS would sleep without me at that age.

Have you tried taking her out of it after about 20 minutes and putting her down, my 7 week old is like this sometimes when she is over tired, but once in deep sleep I can transfer her.

Good tip is to make sure bed/pram is warm as she will be used to the warmth of your body so you could try putting a hot water bottle in bed/pram then removing just before you set her down.

Thanks both- we do swaddle but without much luck. The slings a wrap one do it's quite tricky to transfer her- have only managed it once without waking. Im only keeping her up an hour at a time so I don't think this is over tiredness. She just doesn't want to be in her basket.

I have a wrap sling too, I slide my DD up onto my shoulder from wrap then down to cradle position in my arms first before transfering her.

Also when I put her down I lean over quite far with her still hugged to me so she is still close to me and my smell/warmth when I put her down, not great for your back but it works for me.

You could try putting a t-shirt or muslin that you have worn under her head so that when you lie her down she still smells you.

I also have a Slumber Bear Plus from Prince Lionheart that my Aunt bought for me, which works well to settle my DD as it plays heart beat sounds, white noise, wave sounds and classical and you can record your voice too.
