She just won't. Fine during the day, but only if she's flat out before I put her in it, but at night, not a chance. She's generally not keen on sleeping on her back either.

How does everyone else manage to get a relatively new baby to sleep in their basket/cot?

Also meant to mention that we had our baby slightly on his side using this method as he was ventouse birth so midwife suggested that he would be better off not lying flat on his back/skull.

So here she is, asleep on me again. She is slightly happier on her side than her back, I tried the towels, but no joy.

No TKMaxx here unfortunately. LO is 'on report' to the HV for failing to gain enough weight, so am hoping she will bulk up this week and, maybe, start fitting her baby-grows!

Funny how the books never mention the 'sleeping on the chest' position when so many of us seem to do it.

it's not considered as safe as the baby sleeping on their own body iyswim.

are you BFing?
the co-sleeping is handy so that she gets food during the night.
my DD seems to spend all night feeding.
We lie down facing each other, my arm hooked around over her head, and she has her head next to the nipple, then she feeds there.

I used swaddle pods until LO was 7 weeks ish (grew out of them!) hold them tightly but great for nappy changes as the have a bottom zip!

I got one from tk max and one on eBay bur I think kiddicare do them too, can't link as I'm on my phone though!

LO sleeps either on my chest (bum in air, legs dangling off to the side) or next to me with my arm hooked around her, just as you describe! It definitely makes night feeds stress-free.

Just surprised I've never seen/heard anyone else mention that they sleep on their chest (regardless of whether or not it's safe to do).

LO really doesn't like swaddling - she's a real wriggler and restricting her movement makes her really frustrated/angry. Am rapidly coming to the conclusion that it's wind (possibly reflux) which means she's not happy sleeping on her back, regardless of whether it's in the basket or not.
