3 month old and naps

My DD is 3 months old and will only nap for 20-30mins at a time during the day, how long does your 3 month old sleep for? She usually sleeps 10-12hrs at night but she's started getting quite tired towards the end of the day so last night I took her up an hour earlier at 8.30pm and after feeding she went down at 9.30pm. I'm loathed to bring her bedtime forward much more because if she has a short night's sleep, she'll be up at 5/6am.

My dd is 12 weeks. I like to have her down at 7pm for the night and she goes until 6am with at least 1 night feed. If I am late taking her up she doesn't wake up any later. 12 hours is the norm for babies overnight so I would bring your bedtime forward.
Dd then will have a couple of naps in the day but never more than an hour each time.

Early nights often encourage later waking. Sleep begets sleep! An overtired baby will a) resist going to bed and b) wake up earlier.

Hmm, if I put DD down later, she wakes later, if I put her down earlier (like I did last night) she wakes earlier. So worm, your DD wakes at the same time every day irrespective of bedtime? DD wakes anytime between 8.15-11am when she goes down between 10-10.30pm, that's why I'm reluctant to bring it forward.

So is she awake until 10pm at night or just sleeping downstairs with you?

She's downstairs with us until 9.30pm (she could be feedingm playing or napping, these are her core acrivities all day long) when I take her upstairs and feed her to sleep, she's usually asleep by 10-10.30pm. She's sleeping on me right now but will wake soon as only usually sleeps 20-30 mins in the day. I might take her up at 8.30pm tonight as I did last night because she was tired, but she isn't tired today so I expect her to stay up till usual time but makes no odds to me really if I'm up with her down here or up there. But going down an hour earlier last night she woke up earlier.

Right on cue, just woke up :)
I think she's an odd baby, no long sleeps apart from at night where she can go 10-12hrs with no feed at all, doesn't wake up ravenous, can happily go 30-45 minutes before showing signs of wanting feeding despite going all that time without food. But she feeds really frequently during the day, sometimes twice in an hour.

So far yes OP, there is plenty of time for it to change though! The same can be said though of my older DC's. If they dont go to bed until 11pm, they will still wake at their usual time 7AM ish.
For me I like her going to bed earlier and waking earlier as that is what fits in best for our family. It's nice to have some time for my older DC's and for me and DH to have a bit of time together. I have to be up early anyway to see them off to school. DD (12 weeks) was crying to go to bed any time from 5pm so we brought it forward gradually to where we are now at 7pm bed time.

I agree! To be fair, she still cluster feeds a lot. I took her up at 8pm tonight because she was very fussy and she's fed until 9.30pm when she finally went to sleep and I put her down. And when she woke at 7pm, she basically fed until I took her up at 8 (bar having her nappy changed and me eating my dinner at warp speed!)
