DD 7.5months only wants mum at bedtime

Hi, just wondered if anyone had any advice or similar experiences.

DD has always been pretty easy at bedtime. Had a routine of bath (usually with DP) and a feed (with me) then bed since she was a few weeks old. Switched from BF to FF at bed about 2 months ago.

Recently we've tried DP giving her bedtime bottle but she wont have it. After a few glugs, she realises something's different and starts crying. At this point I've always stepped in.

The exception to this was a night a few weeks ago when I had to be out at bedtime. On that occassion she drank her milk but then kicked-off when DP put her down and screamed for an hour before going to sleep. Stupidly we went back to our normal routine after this.

I really want Dad to be able to do bedtime, so my question is, what's the best way to get DD into the idea? Should I just go out for a couple of evenings and let them battle it out? Or is there an approach with less tears? Thought maybe if DP was in the room whilst I put DD to bed for a couple of nights and then maybe I could say in the room whilst DP put her to bed it might make it easier for her to accept.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi

My DD (8 months) is exactly the same. The only thing that helps is if she has spent a lot of time with DP that day. If he tries putting her to bed when he's been at work all day she screams and screams for me. I have no other suggestions really but at least your not alone.

Start with your dp putting her down for her daytime naps at the weekend. Once she becomes ok with that, then move onto bedtime Smile
