Im considering taking my 18 month old to a cranial osteopath as Ive heard many good reports. He headbangs during the night and, of course, wakes up!!Can anyone recommend them? also if anyone can recommend one in the Brighton/Hove area? Ta

Hello, Spongebob, here's a link to a very recent thread on Cranial Osteopathy - if you scroll down far enough, you'll see I'm an ardent fan of it! There are MNers in Brighton who may help you with local ones - Spidermama springs to mind, for example...

I don't know any in that area but I can really reccommend them. My daughter gad reflux and we saw one about six times - he worked miracles. The treatment is so gentle but it def seems to do the trick. Even my husband was amazed - and he was very cynical about it

Firstly, apologies to Fauve and RuthT and anyone else who has had positive experiences with this. I am totally willing to believe that others have found cranial osteopathy helpful, but I just want to add my experience too.

I was desperate for sleep and was willing to try anything, and so many people recommended cranial osteopathy because I had a traumatic delivery, that I thought it was worth a try. We went twice: once just for DD and once for both of us. Having experienced it myself I have to say it is complete nonsense! (Just my opinion though and I'm sure other people have had genuine experiences with it.)

Waste of money IMO. The best bit was when they said, "you may find she is more settled after the treatment... or she may be less settled." and they recommended (I was BF on demand at this point) that I have 'at least' two nights of eight hours' sleep as I was 'suffering from exhaustion' and my 'system was sluggish'. No kidding, Sherlock!

scroll down to the yellow 'reader's comment' here!

You could always try it out for yourself first, before taking your 18 month old. If nothing else, you'll get a bit of a lie down, which is always nice .

P.S. I must add we didn't go to someone random - we went to the 'charity place' in London that Lockets mentions in the other thread.
