DH has a deviated septum (smashed up nose) after a fight asa kid. He snores like a mo fo. Wakes me and the kids up frequently. Have tried sprays, wrist bands etc. SO loud simetimes and i am at my wirs end. He wakes me more than the babies eved did and i havent had a proper sleep for about 8 years!!
Has anyone got experience of the op to cut away the blockage? Understandably, he's not keen. Was it painful? Did it work? And did you get it on the NHS.

It's an hereditary defect in my family so I've had it done and so has my cousin, because it screws up your breathing as your entire family DH has found.

I had it on the NHS and didn't have to wait long (but this was 20 years ago). I couldn't blow my nose for a couple of weeks but it dripped for ages so went round with a box of tissues in tow. The whole nose area was sore whilst it healed but then you'd expect it. No other major side effects IIRC. You have to sneeze through your mouth, too, which is just plain weird. The effects have lasted well for me despite having it done as a teenager (your nose doesn't stop growing until you're 30!). But a good ENT surgeon would be able to talk you through all the pros, cons and risks.

The most irritating thing is the number of people who tell you you have had plastic surgery. Believe me if I had this is NOT the nose I'd have chosen to get left with.
