How are her daytime naps? And how do you get her back to sleep when she wakes at night - is it by feeding?

Thanks for replying! In the day she generally sleeps every 2-2 and half hours for approximately 30 mins-1 hour at time... I've tried keeping her up longer but its impossible as she just passes out / gets upset.. in the night i always offer bottle when she wakes and she normally eats quite a bit..
Any advice is appreciated!

No advice I'm afraid just to say at 6 months my DS was waking every 2 hours and now at 18 months he wakes at least twice. We've tried everything and nothing works permanently. As well as lots of waking up he refuses to sleep past 5am.

We did find he stretched his sleep periods out at 7 months though.

I hope it gets better for you soon but in the meantime, you are not alone!!

Am watching this thread as my 5 month old is the same with no sign of changing. I bf him to sleep during the night as it's the only thing that will get him back off to sleep. I have tried refusing to offer him the breast when I know he can't be hungry but it just resulted in him being awake for several hours.

no sympathy but ds2 is the same - last night was about 4 hours broken sleep for me - lots of sympathy.

Have you tried leaving her for a bit when she wakes? Sometimes takes my 6 month old DD 10 minutes or so to resettle herself if she wakes in the night.

Also, if you've started weaning, you may find that you're more confident that she's not desperately hungry when she wakes, and can offer less & less milk each time.

I have been using a white noise app which seems to be helping night wean my 6mo dd. She was waking 2/3 times a night and would only go back to sleep after being fed. For a while I was worried about trying to drop the feeds just in case she actually needed them but gradually became convinced that she was just comfort nursing, getting used to falling asleep on the boob and that feeding her was just making her wake more rather than less.

Tried cooled boiled water, dummies and patting which didn't help at all so started using the white noise (which I had previously used to help bedtime sleep routines) and it seems to be working so far. I played the white noise to resettle her back to sleep when she woke and then only fed her when it was clear she wouldn't go back to sleep. This gradually pushed back the time that i fed her although she was still waking a couple of times prior to this but last night she slept til 5.30 and then went back to sleep with the white noise until 6.30 when i fed her. I'm hopeful this is the sign of things to come.

Thanks for all the advice! Yeah we are trying to leave her now resettle herself when she wakes after a feed.. we do the crying it out method in day so now trying it in night, it just all seems a lot louder and harder i night! I'm hoping that this way she won't be confused and will know what to expect.
Tried the white noise, didn't seem to make much difference unfort, did it take a while?

I hate to say it but I think its fairly normal for a 6 month old to wake up three times a night. I was still feeding my DS three times at this age as he had only just started on solids and seemed to need it. Night time wakings started to decrease at about 9 months for us.
