Need to stop co sleeping and reduce night time feeds

DS2 is just coming up to 6 months, and have been co sleeping up until now. It's been going fine, and he would normally have a longish sleep from 7-11 then feed every 2-3 hours in the night. Frequent feeding doesn't bother me as I feed lying down at night.

Unfortunately, I started back on night shifts a couple of months ago, and have had problems since, first he was allergic to the top up formula DH gave him when we ran out of expressed milk and we've had trouble getting him back on the bottle (been signed off work), but have finally had a breakthrough with the MAM bottles.

Only thing is, I don't think its fair on DS2 (or on DH, who would have to deal with it) that he had to cope without the comfort of bf and sleeping alone when he wasn't used to it, so think i need to get him used to sleeping in his cot Sad

Started last night, and managed from 7 till first feed at 10, then second at 12.20 in his cot, then after that he was grizzly and upset everytime I tried to put him back in the cot, and I gave up at about 3am and just let him sleep with me. DS1 is in the next room and we have very thin walls, so I'm wary of too much noise. I don't really want to do controlled crying, but will if I have to, as he will be more distressed when I'm back on night shifts if I don't get it sorted now. Any help would be gratefully received, I am preparing for a week of shit sleep and could use some tips!

I've been doing the "this worked for us" technique nectarina put up. On day 3 and so far good results. No crying required, just time. Hopefully that will get better. Tried cc and it just breaks my heart (and give up before it works!!) xx

If you crack it let me know. Mine won't go to sleep by himself except in pram and does 1/2 hr max in that if not moving. Wakes me as often as 1/2 h/r at night, won't go to bed by himself, so if he's really tired and fussy, I go to bed at 7! Absolutely ridiculous but I don't know what else to do and I have to go back to work soon.

I managed a bit betterlast night, from he fed at 7, 10 and 12, was grizzly again but managed together him back in the cot for parts of the night, still feeding a lot though and taking ages to settle. Gave Up at about 5am and gad him in bed for an hour.

Mare Its horrible when the return to work date is looming, I'm back on Friday after 6 weeks off trying to get him to take a bottle, really dreading it, and DH is getting panicky about coping with sleepless nights and having to go and run a business the next day. How long have you got left?

Hi there, wonder how this is going? I am going thru something similar, really want to reduce the night feeds but no energy to stay awake to help DS to get back to sleep on his own!

He is now 27 wks (just over 6mo) and taking v small amounts of solids twice a day.

Naps are not great at the mo, am assuming it's another bloody growth spurt.
