Hi everyone, I have to pass this on from one sleep deprived mother to another.

DS is 13 months and has never been a very good sleeper, we end up co sleeping (well he sleeps but I don't). Well anyway I was speaking with a friend who recommended the Prince lionheart slumber bear plus. Basically it's a lovely little bear that plays White noise, has a recording of a pregnant mothers womb amoungst other things.

Anyway having reached the end of my tether, seriously I can't take much more, I thought bugger it I'm gonna spend £30 on this bear

I always thought they were very gimmicky, so am pleased to hear that it worked for you! Fingers crossed it continues. Did you keep waking up all night though? DS slept from 10 until 6.30 last night for the first time but I kept waking every hour wondering why he wasn't awake!

Bumping for the evening crowd, great to hear of something working, well done, hope it lasts!! Grin

OovoofWelcome · 02/03/2012 19:07

Did the bear play the same sounds all night - or was it just as you were feeding and settling him?

Bossybritches22 · 03/03/2012 14:24

How did you get on the second night Op?

OovoofWelcome · 04/03/2012 16:23

Yes OP we need to know! Am poised over clicking 'buy' on Amazon....Was the next night as peaceful? Smile

forcedinsomnia · 04/03/2012 16:40

Ditto.....been on amazon searching!! Still clutching £30.Grin

I've been using white noise for the past 6 months. I place an old radio by the cot and use the "in between stations" noise, which is probably the best white noise you'll find. It sounds even better if you put a pillow over the radio so the white noise becomes a bit muffled. I can fall asleep to this and I'm an insomniac !

There's also Ewan the dream sheep who has a choice of 4 different sounds which play for about 20 mins. He's really cute and a bit cheaper at £23. No miracles here but he definitely seems to chill out and wind down both DCs (3.5 mo and 2.8yo).

We bought our bear second hand for 10 quid and it was worth it. It hasn't been the same kind of miracle for us,DD still wakes every 1-3 hours, but it means that sometimes we can get her back to sleep without feeding,or even moving as her wriggling restarts the sound automatically. It plays for just 5 minutes though which sometimes isn't long enough to re-settle her.

minibmw2010 · 05/03/2012 09:26

We have Ewan the Dream Sheep and he's been so good at soothing DS (9 months) I bought it as a present or a friend who is due any day. It doesn't send him to sleep but if he goes down awake it soothes him or helps if I think he's about to wake up. If I can turn it on before he doesn't often helps keep him asleep. It goes on for 20 minutes and you can have the noise and light on, light off, noise off but light on, etc.

NorthernChinchilla · 06/03/2012 18:42

My MiL bought me the bear- the thing itself is ghastly, BUT the white noise box itself has been a lifesaver on occasion. It has several settings, but the clever thing is it's reactive to movement and noise.

When going through the 'evening grumps' in weeks 4-8, it helped settle him at night (we co-sleep).

Now, for daytime naps, I have it on next to him. After some really crappy sleeping, in the past 1-2 weeks he's been put down in his cot, awake, with dummy and white noise and goes to sleep. That really is a miracle here!

minstrel75 · 06/03/2012 22:19

I've found a white noise app for my iPhone which has also worked a treat for my dd. It has a load of different sounds from hairdryers and fans to heartbeats and crashing waves. Its really helped my dd into a good bedtime routine and now she goes into her cot awake, just rolls over and goes to sleep without white noise . I'm now using it to try and reduce the night feeds and wakings. So far its helped her go back to sleep without needing to be fed but she is still waking. Am hoping this will change soon!

Saffra · 06/03/2012 22:50

I did have the slumber bear, which I used when DD was newborn. Don't think it really worked for her though. BUT, I do now use a 12 hour white noise video on YouTube that sends her straight off during naps.

OovoofWelcome · 07/03/2012 20:47

minstrel how old is your LO? How long do you play the white noise for?

minstrel75 · 07/03/2012 22:47

Oovoof - She is 6mo. I usually try and turn the white noise down after she has gone to sleep but generally keep it on. One problem is that sometimes the noise can keep me awake but I'm hoping that I'll only have to use it temporarily. Last night DD slept til 5.30 then went back to sleep with the white noise until 6.30. Am trying not to get too excited as have had the occasional good night before but am really hoping this is the start of a better sleeping pattern.

OovoofWelcome · 10/03/2012 19:52

Thanks minstrel Wow, 5.30am, that's amazing.

My DS is also 6 months - I'm definitely going to try it. Hopefully it won't keep me awake too!
