Sleep talking/shouting!

Hi my ds is 7yrs old and has always shouted in his sleep. However after another disturbed night Im wondering if anyone has any ideas how to help him and us. I have an 18mth old too and when she gets woken she can scream for ages! Their rooms are next to each other and the doors ajar, tried closing ds' but then if he goes to the loo he manages to bang the door open somehow(?!) and still wake her up.

He always uses proper words and sentences and always at full volume. It scares me to death everytime. He can go on for 3-4 minutes each time, which is forever in the night. there is no time pattern when he does it and some nights it may be only once or not at all.

We have tried going in and gently waking him. He will be shouting at full pelt, then when we say its only a dream shh, he will say ok mummy in a tiny voice! Two minutes later he is shouting again and we cant keep getting up all night. I can remember talking in my sleep when younger but always waking mid word and realising what I was doing. He NEVER wakes himself up just the
rest of the house!!

I was laying in bed in the early hours wondering if there was anything we could put in his room to rouse him when he shouts that could maybe be set off from our room. Ths would stop him quicker hopefully.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Is it always at the same time each night?
