My 17 mo is a horrendous sleeper

My 17mo is a horrendous sleeper. Always has been. Sometimes I do CC for 5mins at bedtime to get her to sleep. When she inevitably wakes up crying in the night I don't leave her & do everything I can to stop her crying.

My neighbour has started banging on the walls & shouting "shut that bloody child up". I'm a single parent & find it quite intimidating. AIBU to think I'm doing everything I can?

We are a quiet house, no parties or loud noises bar this but I really don't know how to solve this.

She wakes up around 7am, goes to nursery & naps 12-1.30pm (no more than 1.5hrs...

She might be teething but there's no signs of her gums breaking or anything.

She wears herself out well in the day & goes to bed at 7pm after a bath/story on her own - she doesn't need any settling at all & is happy to lay down & go to sleep.

She normally wakes up around 1am - sleeps brilliantly through until then x

Oh, and nap she settles independently too x

hmmmm.....

so I admit I may be a bit foxed here!

IME screaming in the early hours has usually been down to teeth/illness. My friend has just had a similar thing with her LO screaming for 3hrs at night & she had an ear infection - so if it continues it may be worth taking her to the GP to get her checked.

Her routine looks pretty good & its great that she is self settling. My only observation would be her nap - does she never sleep longer than 1.5hrs? Are you capping this nap or is this just all she sleeps? And does she seem to be happy with a 1.5hr nap? How long has she been on 1 nap?

I was just wondering if she could possibly be a tad OT at BT b/c her nap is still fairly early starting at 12pm - but then if she were OT I would expect you to be more likely to get NW in the first few hours after bedtime & possibly some EW, rather than long NW at 1am onwards.

My LO is 18 months & if it helps, we are currently doing
WU: 7am, Nap: 12.30-2.30 (I wake him if he's still asleep), BT: 7.30pm

IIWM I'd try & rule out the teething/illness thing before playing around with routine though. HTH.x

You have my deepest sympathies as I have been in the same boat!did you confront your neighbour?DS is now 14mths but one night when he was 6-7mths, he woke up crying hysterically. I tried to bf him but he wasn't feeding very much so I took him off and held him instead. He is a high needs baby and howled for at least 20mins.My horrible neighbours screamed up at me from their garden that they were going to call the police and SS. This was at 9.45pm!! I normally co sleep so Ds rarely makes any noise after i go to bed as I bf.Anyway, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe she had a bad day so being neighbourly, I went round the next day with Dh to explain that he was probably teething. WELL!we got a torrent of abuse. It was gob smacking. I'm still traumatised by the experience. They basically accused me of abusing the baby and she told me she is a mother of two, one of which had colic so she knows what a crying baby should sound like. She said she was still going to call SS/Police. It was horrendous. This is such a distinctive story my RL friends will know who I am everyone ive told were appalled!! Her parting shot to me was that SS make random visits so i cant hide!! I'm pretty sure your neighbour won't be as awful but maybe I would write a note-I wish I did!!

I also feel on edge when he wakes up and cries. Which he does quite regularly. I am still bf (which calms him down 75% of the time) but I also end up bringing him into the lounge to watch recorded cbeebies as that normally calms him down if boob doesn't. Sorry no advice but I share your anxieties..
