Help! Nap in buggy in city centre for 8 month old - best way?

I'm taking my 8 month old daughter in to meet workmates for the first time this week. She'll be due a nap when the train arrives at midday, so I'm planning to walk from the station to the office so that she has a chance to nod off en route. At nearly 8 months old I absolutely cannot guarantee that she'll sleep easily in her pushchair, let alone in a noisy city centre. I'm planning on having her reclined in the buggy, and perhaps draping a muslin over the top - does this work? Any other tips? I'm usually very flexible about her naps but I'd like her to be well rested and on top form when she arrives at the office!

Could you use something more substantial than a muslin to cover the pushchair? maybe a SnoozeShade or a towel and clothespegs :)

Does she often sleep in the pushchair? Might be worth taking her out in it at nap time the day before for a trial run, so that you can make an alternative plan if she can't sleep that way...

She used to nap very frequently in the buggy, but she really enjoys her naps in her cot more these days. A blackout blind sounds like a good idea but sadly I've left it too late for this particular trip I think!

If you have the kind of phone that can do it, you could try playing some white noise in the buggy. Iphones and Androids etc. have white noise apps that you can get for free (I use Sleepy Baby), or there are loads of free mp3s you can get on the net. I put my phone into airplane mode so it doesn't ring and tuck it somewhere secure in the buggy. I find it works pretty well if my son is ready for a nap anyway, and it helps to drown out external noises somewhat.

I find those snowsuit type outfits are so cozy they help my 10 month old to sleep in her buggy. Good luck!

Thank you! Well... WE DID IT! And she napped like a dream. I made sure she was due a nap on arrival and well fed. I tucked her up flat in her buggy, gave her the bunny comforter she only ever uses in her cot, and attached a muslin with two clothes pegs. Imagine my surprise when she nodded off straight away amid the sirens, tourists, traffic... Thank you for all of your suggestions.
