Waking at 4.30 ???

DS (9 mths) was until recently teething really badly. 4 teeth have come through in pretty much 2 days so he seems happier, no pain as far as I can tell.

Our latest thing is he sleeps well until 4.30/5am or so and then wakes up with a bad nappy. I change him and put him back in and he really cries for ages, but we are not getting up at 5am !!! So I give him some water and hope he calms down (he hasn't yet this morning, joy).

I thought it might be the noise of the house, boiler kicking in, etc. that was waking him so we shut his door completely (but with monitor on so i could hear any problems) but that hasn't really changed anything.

Any suggestions?

Omama I understand what you mean re shortening the nap but we are in the same boat as Little Milla, if I shorten them he doesn't eat, too tired to last till next nap.

We are having a v strange morning. We've been up since 6am and he's been so grouchy and literally climbed into my nap and has gone asleep before his porridge !! That hasn't happened in a very long time. Hopefully he'll still want a nap later, he's going to a crèche for the first time while I gym it. Grin

How did people do with the clock change?

DS slept OK Saturday night (woke about 6.30) bit then had a really disjointed day y'day as we were out all day. Only wanted milk, no food. Went to bed at 7.30, woke at 3am (settled himself), 5am (settled after some water and fresh nappy) and then again at 7.30am. Only wanted milk again. Porridge was spat out, toast thrown away and melon ignored. He did have pasta in tomato sauce for lunch Smile.

Both naps today have been an hour tops. Sad

Hi, I have a 15month old who is still waking at 4-5am and as you say is raring to go, did you cut down naps completely or just shorten them, currently he can sleep upto 3 hours during the day in one go!

DS woke up at about 7am yest and today...although I feel like a cheat as I know it's not 'real' IYSWIM.

Quite nice to have a 'normal' child for once though Wink.

Wish I could stick to these timings forever, but we've been allover the shop today and so I am not sure that it's going to work. Cannot actually believe I am saying this, but I think a 6:30am start would suit us in terms of activities etc...

We've been having quite a few 7pm-6.30/6.45am wake ups (with a wake up at 5 that he sometimes goes back to sleep from, sometimes not). I think the blackout paper that I've been putting on his window is helping. How is everyone else doing?

Our problem now is a heavy cold that won't go away (he's so snotty and coughs so much), combined with serious teething (cheeks have consistency of avocado skin and are so so red).

What do people give for colds, if anything? I've never really used cough mixture or anything with him.

mini we have just got over a cold. Nothing to give really, but I dose him up with Capol as/when.

DS is doing OK...anywhere between 6-7. Going to bed later, but he's sticking pretty steadily to his 11 hours a night. I am loathe to start on blackout blinds TBH as we tend to travel around lots and I fear we'll get stuck!

I need to get him on one nap. He slept until 6:30am yest after having just 1.5 hours from two naps. But I think he's ready.

After Easter.

We seem to have turned a corner (probably jinx it now). Getting regular 7-7 with no wake ups in the night (in fact I'm awake waiting for him to wake up now Grin).

A few things have changed.

• He's on more finger foods which means he's eating less in volume so takes more of his milk through the day and downs his night bottle (before when on mush he'd barely take 3/4 of each bottle).
•. He seems to have shortened his naps from 1hr20 to 1hr.
•. I followed the advice of not putting him down too early so not before 9.30 and generally not before 2pm now.
•. He's now 11 months so seems able to stay up past 7 now (up until about 6 weeks ago 6.30 brought on meltdown) and the added bonus is most nights now he sees his Daddy who gets in just before 7.
•. Blackout paper on his window.

I know it's unlikely to last, soon as next teething comes in, any illness etc. but I'm enjoying it for now. Smile

Hope everyone else is doing ok.
