At what stage can you relax the rules about co-sleeping safety?

We are co-sleeping with DS. He is 7 months so obviously am following all the safety rules about not drinking, him going next to me and not DH etc. However, it is perfectly safe for me to co-sleep with 40 yo DH when we have been drinking Wink At what stage between 7 months and 40 years is it okay to start relaxing the co-sleeping rules so I can have the occasional glass of wine etc?

I've been having the occasional glass of wine since about 5 months. I started in the day with a glass of champagne. I try to aim to be under the driving limit before i get into bed. So I might stay up an extra hour or two to help. DS is in a side cot (type thingy) but snuggles next to me after his first breastfeed.

Some people sleep lightly, some people sleep heavily - how do you sleep and how do you sleep when you have had a glass of wine. Frankly, whether I have had a drink or not, a butterfly only has to flap its wings in Australia and I'm awake!

Thanks both. I think that the problem is partly that I don't really know what the risks are iyswim - is it that I'm likely to squash him (I'd be surprised, he's enormous!) or won't wake up if he's distressed or something else?

Did have a glass of wine last night and think I actually slept more lightly/worse than when I don't have one (not that I was having one to make me sleep, but ykwim).
