DS is nearly 2 and I want to get him one of those sleep trainign clock thingys to encourage him to stay in his room until a more sociable hour. Do you have one? Does it work / is it easy for toddlers to get the hang of? Which one should I get?
Thank! Smile

We have this gro-clock, it's been great, in fact we have two, one each for my older dcs. It worked from day one, the stars go out as the night progresses, mine know they can get a book or play in bed if there is just one star left but aren't allowed to get up (except to use loo etc) until the sun comes up.

We have this one which is really good, the monkey's eyes close when you press a button (which my son can't access) and they open again on the press of the button or at the time you set the alarm.

DS isn't allowed to leave his room "until the monkey wakes up"

Thank you! Do you think a 2 yr old would get the hang of it?

It probably depends on the child, my dd was only 2 when we first got it and then my ds was originally in the same room, so she kept him in check, not sure how he'd have been on his own. My Dd is now 5 and can set it herself.

Get a gro-clock. Don't get a stupid sleepy bunny clock. The ears fall off it, it will wake up at random times through the night and you will be woken up by a small child waving it in your face at 3.30am

We've got this one now. We used to have an In The Night Garden one, but it was very noisy when it was "waking up" and would wake our ds on the odd occasion that he hadn't already woken up! This one is silent.

Is your DS just 2 or nearer 3? Both of our ds's have grasped the idea from about 2.5 and we introduced it with a star chart to really get them engaged with the idea!

NOT THE RABBIT. It wakes them up! That's not the point!

AWimbaWay · 23/02/2012 09:23

Yes, the gro-clock is nice and silent so only lets them know to get up if they're already awake. Nice simple large picture too so easy for little ones to understand, blue star (or moon on older models) = stay in bed, yellow sunshine = get up. It comes with a story book too about farm animals using the clock to help them grasp the concept and they watch you put the sun to sleep.

Fab thanks everyone; Groclock it is then! DS is just 2 so it might take him a little while, but at least I'll be doing something about it... Half 5 is not acceptable any longer!
