Loud grunting after 2am - is this normal?!

Hi :-) My DS is 10 wks old and has started grunting really loudly between 2am and 6am every night (no crying though). He falls to sleep in his cot nps (in our room) at approx 8.30pm every night and has feeds at 12am, 3am and 6am.
He's quite sicky after feeds, so I usually sit him up on me for about 20-30 mins after each one to let it settle a bit (he jack-knifes his head down to his feet with even a paper-thin prop at the end of his mattress!)
Does anyone have any suggestions? The noise is so loud I have no sleep after 2am every night and I have to prop him on my shoulder which seems to help a bit (but doesn't help me, i'm exhausted!) Because he doesn't cry with it, i'm not sure if he is uncomfortable with reflux or if grunting like this is normal!?
I'm worried about putting him in a separate room as he does bring a good bit of each feed up and sometimes struggles to clear it and of course SIDS.

Hi Kyaw my DD did the same at that age and I would often wonder if I'd given birth to a little piglet rather than a human baby. She is now 14 weeks old and it happens a lot less. Apparently this is very normal and is to do with 'REM rapid eye movement' type sleep which is their pattern in the early weeks. When they get a bit older this changes and they have more sound sleep..or that's the theory anyway!

Hi Bimble, thanks for that - bring on deeper sleep! I should record it before it goes away.........(hopefully!) it would be really funny if it was during the day!

hey speaking of poo it's hilarious when they start straining isn't it?!

kyaw, my dd also moaned and groaned especially after her 3/4am feed. Like you not only did the actual noise keep me awake, but I used to lie there worried that she was in some kind of pain. We thought it was trapped wind pains during the lighter phase of sleep. She stopped doing it at about 10 or 11 weeks. So not sure what it is but hope it gets better too!
