Does it get better after teething?

My DS (8 months) has been teething for about 3 months now and wakes up in pain at least once or twice a night. Bar weekends when DH takes over its up to me so I'm shattered (as is DS). This week he cut 3 top teeth and the last top tooth is trying to get through.

Will he start to sleep better (he was good before this all started) and hopefully get some respite ??? Also, will I ?????

It's very hard when you are a parent to a child who will not sleep. Mine were the same - one till 10 months, one till 2 years. It does end. Neurofen for children has the edge over Calpol for teething - as it's anti-inflammatory.

But yes they do suddenly get better and your life improves remarkably when it does.

Mini, we're in the same boat. DS has just turned 8 months and has been getting progressively more distressed over the last week. Saturday night was hell (including a big vom which may or may not be related t teething). First tooth appeared yesterday, and we celebrated thinking this would be the start of an improvement. How naive were we?! Last night he was crying in his sleep every five/ten minutes, so I got no sleep (literally). Was such a wreck this morning that DH phoned in sick to work so he could help out today. I'm assuming there may be other teeth about to break through. As I'm posting 10 days after your original post, any chance of an update? I'm looking for a glimmer of hope to see me through tonight's sleep deprivation fest!

My ds2 is 2.2 and still teething! It doesn't wake him up too much though luckily but I give him calpol/nurofen as soon as he starts chewing as if it's hurting or has rosey cheeks which seems to help. It will get better though.

Yes if does get better when teething finishes excluding illness of course Grin
