How can I stop dummy use for 7mo

Hi, this is my first post so forgive me if long and winded!

DD2 is 7mo and I've not had a sleep through. She was using me as dummy so introduced dummy at 3mo which helped feeding.
I can (in the last week) put her in cot awake and she will fall asleep but as soon as she realises her dummy has fallen out she wakes up and can't seem to get herself back to sleep. I need to get up to put back in her mouth.

Could anyone give me tips to teach her to self soothe?
I did try cold turkey with removing dummy but gave up on day 2 as had under 2hrs sleep and couldn't deal with 2yo and screaming 7mo!!!!!!
She can put dummy in herself during day but can't when she's sleeping heavily and awakes. Her eyes are still closed looking for dummy!

Sorry for long story!
Thanks in advance.

There is a method called the Gentle Removal Plan in the No Cry Sleep Solution (if you just google it you won't need to buy the book). It worked for us at about the same age.

There is a teddy you can buy called sleepytot, I don't know how to link but lots of places online sell them so have a google .
It's a flat comforter teddy with Velcro on the paws and feet that you attach the dummy to, when they wake up in the night it's much easier to find and there was a drastic improvement in my ds waking up for a dummy as he held on to the teddy or felt his way for it before he got too 'awake'.

I know I am not really helping with getting rid of the dummy but it might help in the short term?

I have heard that it helps with taking the dummy away as they become attached to the teddy as a comforter itself, I am thinking about doing that with ds soon.

Thanks very much, will have a look at both these.
I wouldn't mind her keeping it till she was married if she find it herself at 3am!!!!!!! :)

Haha! Then definitely try it, it didn't take long for ds to get the hang of it at all, the first night he woke once, second night he slept through Grin

Some advice on kicking dummy habit. Found this on another site. Thought useful.

Try poking a hole in the nipple of the paci of an older child. This doesn’t allow them to create a suction, so they just suck air, which isn’t very orally stimulating for them. It avoids taking away the paci when they have an emotional tie to it and are using it as a lovey. If they insist on carrying it around after this, start (carefully) snipping the tip of the paci off, bit by bit, until there’s nothing but the plastic shield and a nub. The kid is going to give up on the pacifier eventually, and if they insist on carrying the plastic shield around, at least it’s not in their mouth, right?

This said, please use common sense and caution. This isn’t a good idea for a small baby because they will just suck air out of the paci and get a tummy ache. And of course, be careful with small pieces of silicone coming loose once you start tampering with the pacifier. Obviously.
