After co sleeping - is it hard to get them to sleep in the cot again?

So we are co sleeping - it's not what I wanted to do, but dd (4 months) was such a terible sleeper, waking every few hours, so in desperation we let her sleep in bed with us when she just wouldn't go down in the cot in the middle of the night, and she sleeps so well that we have just decided to go with it.
It has made such a difference, she now happily sleeps through the night, and it's wonderful not feeling sleep deprived anymore!
I don't want this to be a long term thing though, I was hoping she would be able to sleep in her own room at 6 months. So can I ask those who have done it - if you co sleep for a while, can you eventually get them to sleep in the cot? And how do you do this? Co sleeping long term is really not for me!

Yes we did! She was about 5-6 months and just settled into a routine of bath boob bed in her own cot. I then slept in her room as well for a couple of months as she was still waking for feeds in the night until about 7-8 months when she started sleeping through the night. With DD2 she's already settling around 9-10 at night so I plan on actually finishing her nursery (!) and putting her in her cot for the first half of the night just to get her used to it. Baby steps is what it takes from my experience!
