Night time nappy leaking fiasco

Can anyone help with this one - my six month old son used to be a great sleeper but it's all gone to pot with weaning. He was EBF until a few weeks ago and now has formula in the day at nursery. He won't take much though he gobbles 3 meals plus snacks. He has breastfeeds in the morning and at bedtime, the problem is he goes into a feeding frenzy at bedtime and as a result pees all night and is leaking through his nappy in the middle of the night. When he wakes up wet he is hysterical and takes a good hour to calm down (and needs more booby). He's also waking at 5 now an often won't go back to sleep...I've tried going up 2 sizes and I'm using pampers baby dry but it leaks up his back - what am I doing wrong? You'd think I'd now how to put a nappy on by now. Any ideas? - thanks

Fleece liners won't help with leaking as they are not absorbent, they just give a dry feel against the baby's bum, but disposable nappies have that anyway. You could however try using a reusable bamboo/hemp booster inside his night nappy.

Or you could try putting a wrap designed for a real nappy over his disposable nappy at night.

Or you could try washables just for night times - we have some dedicated night nappies which have never let us down.

Thanks, will give reusables a try!

Oooh, a convert Grin Wink

I'd go for a two part nappy (the sort that needs a wrap), as they tend to be far more reliable overnight.

Or go for two disposables, one worn over the other. I've got reusables but I don't use them at night because the ones I've got need changing really often (every 2-3 hours) whereas my pampers babydrys usually get us through a 10-hour stretch.

We have had problems with pampers and leaks at night with ds. Tried huggies which were better and then sainsbury's with which we have had no leaks. Might be worth a try.
