When do you start to 'count' naps?

Ok this might be a really silly question, but a question I have nevertheless...

My DD often falls asleep on the boob for her naps. She will normally feed very well and then start to slow down, close her eyes but will carry on sucking, this becomes slower and more spaced out & her eyes remain closed as she falls asleep. But sometimes the sporadic sucking continues till she comes off herself and normally stays asleep.

So my question is... When does her nap start? Once she has fully come off? Or before? I know she is still feeding and getting milk with those last sucks but is she doing it in her sleep?

She is 3.5 months

I guess I want to know as she is not a great napper and tends to have 4 naps a day but these are often only 30 minutes in length and I'm worried she would be starting to extend these, but then maybe I should be 'counting' those sleepy feeds too?

My DD is 4.5 months and thats how she naps too. I don't really bother timing naps but I'm guessing from when they come off?

Oh I thought you were asking by age Grin I was going to say at about 10 months...

Why count?
If the baby naps you make the most of it. If they don't you put up with it.
Can't say I ever counted number or lengths of naps.
I only know DD2 didn't get much of a nap because we went to get DD1 from Pre school as she would have fallen a sleep.
Once DD2 was home she was much more interesting than sleep.

Hmm I dunno. I only pay attention to when DD2 wakes up from her nap because she wants another one two hrs later & it helps to have an idea. She's 4ths
