Ok so my 6mo dd is bf and is still waking through the night and I usually feed her to sleep (we cosleep) not ideal i know however it makes things much more bearable but I am considering putting an end to bfing am slightly worried that it might make the night wakings longer/harder to settle. Has anyone experienced this?

I am no expert but 6mo may be a little early to completely drop night feeds unless you are very keen on cold turkey? You don't say how often she is waking though?

DD was in a cot by then, so things were a bit different but we taught some self-settling at bedtime (sit by cot quietly til asleep, then after a few weeks left the room) and during thr nightwhat we did is say "no feed before midnight" and if she woke before then just go and sit by her in the cot and hold firm. At 5.5mo DD was waking about 4 times a night but self-settling got her down to 2. Over the next 3 months she shifted the first one later and later till shedropped to one and now is just beginning to occasionally make it through til 5.30. I haven't done anything to make that happen (though have made decision not to feed her before 6am now as she's sleeping really badly from 4am for other reasons).

I imagine it's very different when cosleeping, but since you hadn't got any replies I thought I'd post my experiences!
