HELP!!!! My 15 month old DD has started being a nightmare on a night. Up until a couple of months ago me and DH were quite smug about our little girl who went to bed at 7.30 and slept through until 7am. Now I give her a bottle at 7.30 and try to put her down at 8pm. As soon as I go to lay her in her cot she starts crying and when I leave the room she stands up in her cot. I go in try to settle her by not picking her up which doesnt work so I pick her up and she stops crying. As soon as I go to lay her down again she starts. I normally end up giving in and bringing her downstairs which I know I shouldnt but she normally falls asleep on me within half an hour then I transfer her to her cot. Now the other problem she wakes anytime between 12 and 3am and as much as I try to settle her in her room I always end up taking her into my bed. I just dont know how to break this cycle!

I could have written this for my 15month dd every single night since she turned 13 months. I don't have much advice but lots of sympathy.

mauwmauw Does something happen to them when they hit 12/13 months????? For the past 2 nights I have been CC. 1st night I put her to bed at 8 took until 9.20 for her to go to sleep then she slept through until 6.30. Last night put her to bed at 8 took until 10 for her to go to sleep and she woke at 7am this morning!

Hi littledonkin I think there is some kind of 12 month sleep regression linked to developmental milestones such as walking and speech I think. There are other ladies who know more but this is very common according to my reading. Also the appearance of molars and introduction of cows milk can be factors in 1 year plus night wakings.

Our 15 month old DS has just been through 2 weeks of this and we had our first good night again last night. We discovered that he had an ear infection :( so every time we lay him down it throbbed and was very sore. When we picked him up it was comforting for him so he fell asleep in our arms. Thankfully the antibiotics seem to have kicked in now. He has had periods of sleeplessness for his molars too which look so sore when they come in. I think we have bought our weight in Tylenol! We were trying for another DC and are now wondering if we would be able to cope with the sleepless nights again!
