Which sleep training should we use for 8mo?

Hi, Please could anyone help? We need some advise on which sleep training method would best in our situation.

To get our 8mo DS to sleep, we rock him in our arms until he is asleep and then place him carefully into his cot, sometimes this rocking can take a couple of hours.

We know that it's best to put him in his cot awake (drowsy), but when we do this, he perks right up and jumps up, climbing up his cot and starts blowing raspberries and singing. He will be like this for ages, so we just pick him back up again and rock him to sleep.

He doesn't really cry, so don't know how to really do the CC technique.

We would love to stop the rocking and get him to learn how to go to sleep by himself, please could you let me know what to do - how to teach him to sleep by himself. Thank you

If he is happy in the cot - singing etc. Just leave him for a while and see if he goes to sleep. I wouldn't go back and rock him again unless he started to get upset.

Sitting next to DS and shushing him, while rubbing his tummy worked well. Could reduce the volume of shhhng and patting over time as he got used to it.

I'd second Nevercan. My DD does this when she stays at my Mums. But Mum just goes out of the room and leaves her to it. she pops back every 5 minutes or so and she has normally gone to sleep within 15 minutes.

If he doesn't cry i would just put him down awake, have a little routine maybe a couple of songs and a kiss and then leave. If he does get upset go back in a calm him down and then leave again.

As long as he isn't crying I'd definitely just leave him to it. When my DS first learnt to crawl and pull up he was much the same! It got better after a while and he started going to sleep instead of playing for hours.
