Legal ones for kids!

I am flying to Australia with DS (20 mo) in February, several people have mentioned phenegan(sp) on prescription from the doc. Has anyone used and would you recommend?

Maybe you should try it if that will help, my ds stayed awake on 9 and a half hour flight to mexico and back he was okay only had one incident where he started to cry and struggle from being sitting too long eveyone stared and looked at us like we were killing him but he was just frustrated being stuck still, but if he could have slept it would have been better for him when we got there and when we came back as he was a tired mess.

It might also be worth buying a seat for your child ... under 2s don't technically need a seat but on a long haul flight it is definitely wise to get one for a toddler. Much more space and they are more able to stretch out and sleep. DD slept with her head on my lap but the rest of her on her seat.

I flew to Oz with a 26 month old and a 7 month old. We took Medised but in fact used nothing. I too have heard of somebody who gave there kids Phenegan and it made them very hyperactive, not something you want on a long haul flight. And I was concerned about the side effects once it had worn off and we were in OZ.

But to be honest, I found that we didnt need anything, we kept them both up the day before, so made sure that they were tired, we walked them miles around heathrow and miles around Singapore. I would recommend paying extra for a seat for the 20 month old though. A portable DVD player was a god send for us with a selection of DVD's.

Thanks for tips, although confused about whether or not to do the drug thing now.

DS will be 20 mo, we are flying with Singapore and have booked him a seat. We are taking our car seat to put on the seat. Take off at midday, 2hr stop in Singapore

Any top tips for generally making it a bearable 23 hours and for settling him into a routine when we get there?
