swinging crib - any use?

Awaiting the arrival of DC2 and was wondering if a swinging crib / rocking moses basket may be of any use? We spent a lot of time at the start with DD1 trying to get her to sleep and found the motion of the bouncy chair really worked. Was wondering if I could recreate his motion with a swinging crib?
Any suggestions?

I had a swinging crib and used it for both ds and dd and it was great. Got mine from mothercare for about £70 about 4 years ago and it has done the rounds with friends and family. I think the mattress was separate though. It certainly made for easy bedtime in our house although every child is different... Hth

My dd was a really terrible sleeper and I can't imagine I would have got any sleep at all if it were not for the swinging crib.

Ours was more of a swinging chair that played tunes. I don't know what we would have done without it. Twice. Grin

Not for sleeping in at night but a godsend for eating and getting stuff done. Grin

rocking cradles and a toddler in the house are an interesting combo I speak from experience

I had one for DD, and it was great! You can pick them up off EBay for about £15, and then purchase a new mattress from Mothercare. I think my DD was in her's till about 6 months, and she was tiny (5lb 5 at birth) so they are not in them for long.

We were given one by my SIL, my kids hated the swinging motion, so we had to use it in the fixed position only. So just as some kids love the noisy of the Vacuum cleaner and others (mine) hate it, it is a matter of personal taste.

We had one for DD, she was (and still is) a shocking sleeper and the swinging motion made no difference, I don't think we were ever able to rock her to sleep in it as I had fondly imagined.

On the plus side she was in it for about 8 months and as it was relatively small so we could have her right next to our bed which meant less traipsing around in the middle of the night...
