Baby Bolster

I have added this question to the non-sleeping baby for sale thread as well. Does anyone know if baby bolsters are safe. My 5 mth dd wakes herself up constantly by rolling over in her grobag and wedging herself against her cot bars (she can't roll back) She will then cry until I roll her back. (went on all night last night). I have something called a baby bolster which is 2 small cushions attached to eachother. the baby lies in between and it prevents rolling. Does anyone know if these would be safe to use? Has anyone used them?

The SCBU used one for my DD2 when she was in special care, and she was only 3lb 8oz

Christ ... it is sad how much I am beginning to rely on this chat site ... but ... Magnum ... you will be reassured to know that the bolster prevents the rolling but as I found , it was ealy to wean my DD off it .

I used one for DS2 and it was good. One bolster was fixed and the other was adjustable with velcro to allow for the different "chubbiness" of babies.

thanks for all your messages. I feel quite safe using it now. Need to do something as I don't feel up to another night like last night. I'm just a bit worried that at 5 months she might object to not being able to move around so freely! Hopefully by the time I put her down she will be too tired to notice.

My baby does the same as yours magnum, I don't have a bolster so I have started tucking her grobag into the bottom of her matress and laying 2 rolled up blankets (also stuffed into the bottom of the matress) next to her under her underarms. It seems to be doing the trick but I am also worried that I shouldn't be restricting her movement so much, but I got tired of her waking herself up and me having to roll her over. She can nearly roll herslef back over now so hopefully it will just be a short term thing.

Hi magnum,

My 6 mo rolls about in her cot too, and often ends up wedging her head in the corner. I've not used a bolster, but do find that a small buckwheat pillow is helpful. I can wedge her in with it, prop her up against it, or use it to elevate the head of her cot when she has a cold. I'm going to look into the baby bolster thing though, as I've never heard of them before!

Hi Magnum. How are you getting on? Still doing roly-poly's?

blumberg · 23/11/2003 20:27

where can you get one? is it ok to use for a six month old!!! mine has just started this game and is getting us all down. she gets quite panicky when she is stuck

Hi Magnum - how are things going with your dd? Seems I've hit the same problem as you, but ds (7.5mo)can roll over again, but doesn't - he just gets in a state and can't drop off to sleep. Starts clambering out the cot. Having this problem with naps and nighttime....

Helllppp...

Seems we may be heading in the right direction after last night so no need to reply about my problem, but it would be nice to hear how things are going with you.
