4 month old up all evening - want my evenings back

have been getting dd to sleep after my ds goes to bed at 8pm... Then when she is tired again I feed her in the dark, hoping to be able to get her down. I feed her for age because otherwise she wakes up again and stays awake... Need to feed her into a deep slumber.

I have two troubles - 1: she feeds for hours before I can put her down. Any attempt to remove her and she roots for the boob.

She's my second and obviously I feel I ought to know how to do this better. Ds had a dummy so I don't have experience that helps!

I know am being used like a dummy but how do I get her to go to sleep from being awake?

Starting to Feel a bit desperate. I have a few social engagements coming up and don't want to spend all of Christmas evenings feeding in a dark room!

Any tips?

Hi Dycey,
I am still used as a human dummy [smiley] but I managed to put an end to the 1.5 hour evening feeds by using the Pantley pull off from the No Cry Sleep Solution. Basically once DD stops feeding and starts comfort sucking I pull her off. If she keeps rooting or starts crying then I put her back on for another minute or so, repeat, repeat, until they get bored of the process. Good luck!

Thanks do much - does the pantley pull off work then? I must try it!

I have/had the exact same problem with my 4 month old who is also my second DC!
It was really getting me down until we came up with our current plan, which is for me to feed DD and then if she wakes after I put her down, DH will resettle her.

Pantley pull off work with me....ds is ff but I was having the same issues. He sometimes still needs a refresher that he doesn't need milk to sleep...doesn't take long though. Good luck. Grin
