baby stopped napping during daytime

My baby (who will be one in 10 days) used to nap fairly consistently for 1-2 total hours in the day (one late morning, one late afternoon) - but has been up in her cot for nearly an hour now playing with her teddies and singing to herself (i.e. not settling). [i would have got her up much much quicker if she seemed distressed by it]. Thing is she's now only getting 20 minutes sleep a day or so when I'm out shopping and pushing the buggy.

She's not bad overnight - will do 12-13 hours, probably waking once for 1/2 to 1 hour. Do you think she just doesn't really need the daytime naps now (she still seems to get tired and grumpy at times though and was looking really subdued when I put her down?) Or is her nap pattern evolving at this age and I'm trying to get her down at the wrong times? Or is it teething?

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks

It could be any of those things you've mentioned - although I think teething tends to noticeable throughout the day, not just at naptime. If she were tired but unable to settle because of teething pain, she'd probably be whingy and distressed.

It's quite unusual for a baby to not need any daytime sleep at one year old (18 months is pretty early do drop all naps but it can happen), so I think it may be more to do with the timings of her naps. My daughter was only having one nap a day at that age, usually after lunch for 1.5 hours. If she's having one in the morning she may just not need another one in the afternoon anymore.

I would persevere with it- she would def need to need a daytime nap still. but my suspicion would be that she is only needing 1 sleep. i would try to keep her awake til say 11.30ish (or even 12 with an early lunch). i reckon then she'd settle like a dream and you'd get a good couple of hours out of her ! either she isnt tired enough in the am to settle or after that one no longer needs the late pm one. i would aim to drop down to 1 nap and dont let her sleep in buggy/ car in advance of it to make it really work! (that was how it worked for my dd2 anyway!)
