Hi
DD 8 wks and have spent last 2 hrs winding her :( fed her at 3 and tried winding her to no avail. Just fed again and same thing. Am absolutely shattered and if I hear one more of my 'friends' tellin me their baby is sleeping through/did sleep through at 6 wks I'm going to go mental!!!!

I can't sleep in the day and find the exhaustion so bad as suffer from bad headaches.

Any tips for getting rid of wind?? tried practically everything :( she spits out infacol etc, even after every position there is to wind her nothing comes up and she continues to grizzle and pull her knees up when back in her basket!!!!

Ps my back is now ruined from all lifting from Moses basket/breast feeding which doesn't help my mood :(

Can't offer a magic cure but both of mine went through a stage of being like this during the night. It was horrible counting down to the next feed knowing you'd get some sleep if you only get the burp out.
I went to see a homeopathic chemist with dd1 who recommended I take some good bacteria tablets and gave me some drops for baby.
With dd2 I just hung in there as knew it was only a phase. I can't tell you whether it was 2 weeks or longer but they both suddenly got better and would burp immediately after a feed.
I found techniques working to be random what would work one day would not work the next. Apparently their are loads of demos on you tube. Make sure they are bolt upright whilst winding, feed in as upright position as you can manage. Are you bfing? If so pay attention to your diet in case anything makes it worse. Sometimes mine would burp if they were lain down for a bit and the picked up, sometimes lying on their front helped
It was just a phase with mine that passed. Hope you get some sleep soon.

Will she settle if you hold her? I only ask because you mention she brings her knees up when you put her in her basket.

If she'll settle when you hold her, I'd bring her into bed with you, after making it safe for cosleeping. It might be that the warmth of your body helps with the wind pain (in a similar way that a hot water bottle helps us with stomach pain), or that your being there just comforts her enough to cope.

Well done for getting DH back in so quickly! Don't let that make your nights harder tho - get him up to help/take his turn with settling after you've fed. Seriously. I battled on alone, with the result that I felt abandoned and like he didn't want to help, and he tells me he felt pushed out and unneeded. Get him involved.

Hope you manage some sleep soon.

Can't co sleep as DH is big and has the most wriggles when sleeping lolz
DH doesn't help at night as he works and also it means at least one of us is with it and has had a good nights sleep( he has ear plugs)

Try Camomile tea, it was what the health visitor recommended for my first and worked well for her, my ds is 16 days and loves to drink it although it does not seem to be working as well for him, it is worth a try.

try walking up and down the stairs after a feed while holding her upright on your shoulder.. or even better get someone else to do it!

CrazyAlien06 · 21/11/2011 15:28

I found sitting my ds upright with his back to my tummy and then leaning back and forth. Sing row row row your boat and rock in time. Worked for us. Stairs and pick up/put down worked for my boy too. Good luck. Smile
