ok, my dd2 10 months, used to sleep through the night when she was 4 1/2 months okd and she used to put herself to sleep with her thumb in mouth. sge did this for a month and then got four teetg all at once and has never put herself to sleep since and wakes up every 2 hours ish. i upped her milk and food and sge slept through that dirst night. right now she has a horrid coldand i am typing with pne hand and a sleeping baby on my lap, last night she slept all night in my bed. I tried pu/pd when she was well but she has a button on her bum or something and as soon as her arse touches the cot she stands up!! she not relly crying, basically i don't think i ubderstand pu/pd. i can't do cc !!!! i know that at the mo she is ill and i assume that is why she sxreams blue murder if i try to put her in her cot when she is happily asleep. i'm guessing that she needs the comfort right now and thats dine except i'm terrified that i'm making it si she will never sleep in her own xot or i will still be rocking her to sleep when shes 6! i'm just despairing, i don't understand what to do to try to teach her kindly

Ok you can completly ignore me if you wish as I have a 19 month old who still doesnt sleep but ive read so many sleep books I can hopefully help on the technicalities.
Carry on comforting her for a week more. That way then in a weeks time youll know that she should be over her cold and wont feel guilty.
Then to do pu/pd it takes a good few nights of constant picking up.
Put her in her cot, leave the room. Then if she cries go straight back in pick her up or cuddle her, dont say anything other than sshh, lay her bak down and leave the room. Do this over and over agin until she either stops crying or gives up and lays down.

We did it with DD when she was little and it took 3 nights of approx 1-2 hrs of this but then she got the hint and would just lay down as soon as we opened the door.
Shame it wont work now.
