We are considering hiring Andrea Grace or Nicola Watson to help with our little one's sleeping issues. Has anyone used these Sleep Therapists before? Both come highly recommended but would love to hear some first hand experience if possible :) I don't want to use Controlled Crying, Ferberising or 'Cry it out' and both of these sleep gurus don't seem to advocate these methods, which is what makes them attractive to me.

Hi, did you give either a go? I have just seen this thread and was also intersted in Nicola Watson - suggested on another sleep thread.

Go for Nicola watson, she's lovely! My dd, 7mo, sleeps at least ten hours without a peep.

Andrea grace was lovely and worked really well for us - ds1 used to wake and start the day at 4:30, now nearer 7.

Thanks. I got in touch with Nicola and she seems lovely so am going to give it a go. If anyone finds this thread and is interested to know how I get on just ask.

What area is Andrea in? And is it expensive? Pm me if you don't want to post on here.

What kinds of things do these people suggest, if not CC or CIO?

I would never use CC or CIO, and I have a dreadful sleeper. I've tried the No Cry Sleep Solution, and DS still seems to sleep or not at the mercy of developmental leaps or god knows what.

Really curious here - other than hardcore methods such as CC and CIO, and gentler things such as establishing routines and introducing sleep cues, what else is there that these people know?

I just found this, am really interested in how it went and the techniques used. Thanks!

Cinque - Andrea Grace does suggest CC in some situations. She's very keen on total night weaning from six months as a sleep training method. She also recommends gradual withdrawal, starting by comforting the baby in the cot while they cry, then moving away.

FWIW we used her and it didn't work for us. DS is 15 mo and still a pretty crap sleeper. She is lovely, though, and has a very high success rate, I believe.

I don't think these experts know about any secret methods that you're paying them to reveal. It's more that they support you through the process and give you a proper plan to work to, so you're less likely to give up at three o'clock in the morning.

Thanks, Count, I was thinking that might be the case. A little part of me is always hoping for the silver bullet, though Blush.

Sleep consultants can only advise you what to do. If you chose to take the advice and follow it to the letter you will get positive results. Unfortunately magic cures have not been invented yet! Nicola Watson is as close to magic as you will get for the moment. She will tailor a sleep plan to you and your childs needs.
