Introducing a pillow

DS is 1 and I want to start introducing a pillow so have been putting a fairly flat cushion in his cot when he goes down for naps. The problem is he has a sleeping bag so doesn't have a designated head end, at the moment he's asleep with his feet on the cushion instead.Should I leave it until he starts staying in one place or persevering? Also I want to get him his own pillow but (stupid question) do I just get him a normal one or are there special kids ones?

Ikea might do kids ones, I have a cot quilt/ pillow case cover set from them and I'm sure the pillow case is to small for a regular pillow. I haven't used it yet as DS is in a growbag too.

TBH though it doesn't sound as if he needs one yet, DS is 15 months sometimes snuggles up on my pillow but always wiggles down to the flat when he's going to sleep.

Ah ok thanks i'll try there.

We do find that if he's in our bed he very rarely falls asleep and I think it's because he can't get comfortable on the pillows, he often likes to sleep on his front though to be fair we have 2 pillows so they're quite a bit higher. Strangely though if he's awake he loves snuggling on them because they're soft.

Introducing a pillow isn't exactly something you need to worry about :) If he is comfy and sleeping then why rock the boat? THye are not a necessary thing.

I odn't think either of mine had pillows until they went into a bed. They knew what tehy were from having snuggles in our bed but didn't have their own.

John Lewis basic/value/whatever it is called cheapy own brand pillows are flat (and cheap so you can have spares for vomit incidents). Dd is almost 3 and is usually found half way down her bed rather than on her pillow Grin.

we got dd a tummy sleeper pillow (they are a bit flatter) from IKEA when she was a year old and had a bad cold. it helped her to be a little bit higher with the head.

We have the same thing when DS is in our bed but I think it's the excitement of being in the big bed with Mummy and Daddy. He does love the pillows though, more for play than for sleep in our house.
