New early waking in 4 yr old

My 4 year old used to sleep through till 7am or later. Since starting school 2 months ago she continually wakes between 5.30am and 6am. We thought it was the excitement of full time school and exhaustion would kick in. Despite being dog tired in the evenings, she still wakes up at this new early hour. Illness, half term hols and clocks going back haven't broken the pattern. Bedtime routine is the same, calm and in bed by 7pm. Have tried different bedtime patterns but made no difference. So gone back to normal one. Any thoughts as to why this is happening and if there is anything we can do to encourage longer sleep as she used to before starting school full time? Thanks!

Bumping. Mine is same since starting pre school. He alternates waking with the baby all night then we are up for good at 5.45. I can't stand it!

Mine started doing the same and then a friend recommended a special clock to help. I think it's called an "OK to wake" or something. Anyway, you set the time you want them to wake and it glows green when it's ok for them to get up. Amazingly enough DS has really responded to it! We had to start the glow quite early at first and then push it back gradually and now he will stay in bed until 7!!

Will see if I can find a link for you.

OK To Wake

That's great, thanks. Will try it!

Was just about to suggest the magic light appraoch - you can just use a normal lamp linked to a digital timer if you don't want to pay for a special product.

Oh, that's brilliant!
