DS 9mo will not sleep. HELP!!!

Apologies for shouting.

DS is 9mo. He has never slept for longer than 4 hours, ever. He wakes about 3-4 times a night. I don't know what to do, tonight I left him for 10 mins crying and didn't feed for 2 hours and he is very upset.

He no longer feeds to sleep but does need to feed till drowsy. We have good bedtime routine, bath, story, song, kiss but then he will go down and wake after 1 hour. Last month or so it seems it's only me that can settle him and will cry for DH unless he walks and rocks for ages. Naps are also not great and take lots of effort.

My plan was to co sleep, carry on let him sort hinself out, feed on demand etc however it is starting to affect him. He is tired in morning and too tired for our activities.

So what can I do? My plan is to not feed between 12-4and offer water if wakes (didn't go well today) but what else. Really don't want to do CC. We already cosleep but he still wakes lots.

Sorry for long post.

You can try an earlier bedtime, check for wind before putting him down. Also sending your DH to deal with wakings between 12-4 as well and try moving him into a cot next to your bed to have more chance of him settling. I remember in desperation trying to get DS to cosleep at 9 months (after stopping at 3) and he was so wired! He went through a developmental leap around about then (I remember him waving at 2am - his latest trick...!).

Also plenty of fresh air - this really helped DS. he used to sleep loads better on holiday - because we were out a lot more in the day. Even when he wasn't walking.

Yes I think earlier bedtime may be worth a try.

I see from other threads that it may be a development stage and I may try and ride this out.

Time will tell!

No advice but Im in the same boat. Dd2 was up 7 times Last night. My dh is at the end of His tether and wants to just let her cry, but i Cant see How Thats a better alternative tbh- the other dd would be woken and we'd have two dc up. Shes 10m and Im desperate for and end to this.

DD was the same at 9 months and then we put her in own room. 3 nights later she slept through and still does 75% time when not teething etc. DH dealt with any wakings. We never left her to cry but I did night wean. Would that be an option? We're on a bit of a regression now to be honest (15 months) and she generally ends up co sleeping from 4am onwards but it worked really well for a while.

Preg, i know what you mean. I can't see cry it out achieving much except making everyone more upset. I think DS would cry all night if not tended to tbh!

Zimm i have contemplated putting him in his own room but just think it will cotinue and I will be even more tired going to another room. Cot is set up in our room even if he doesn't use it Wouldn't want to night wean completely but will see how it goes with 4 hour feed free. I'm also going to get DH to do more of night wakes.

Thanks for your advice and experiences. Nice to know i'm not alone, even if I wouldn't want this for anyone else!
