Hi,

DD sleeping really well, has slept through since 8 weeks (all her own doing, we are very lucky)
Apologies to those reading this who have babies that wont sleep, im not ungrateful (feel bad posting this) just enquiring.

The 4 month sleep regression seems to have passed (nightmare 3 weeks) and she is now sleeping 12+ hours again.
The last 5 nights she has gone down at 7-7.30pm and not woken until 8.30-9.15am with last night being nearly 14 hours (7.10pm-9.15am)

She is on 25th centile weight wise but other than that is very happy and healthy (although she has a dysplastic kidney but dont think thats relevant in this). She has 5 x 7oz bottles in the day.

I told my mother yday and she looked so shocked, said i should be waking her after 12 hours and feeding her. Ive left msgs for HV but she hasnt got back to me so thought i would ask on here as i have always had such great advice. It never even occoured (sp?) to me and now i feel guilty!! She somethimes wakes crying and i always feed her straight away (have a bottle ready) but 90% of the time she wakes happy.

Would you be inclined to wake her?

Is she getting enough milk over the day? Multiply her weight in lbs by 2.5 to get a rough idea of how many oz she should get in 24 hours.

If she is gaining weight and is content and alert when awake then I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the quick post RitaMorgan

Shes 13lb 11oz so yep, thats around 35oz of milk.
She gained exactly 1lb in the last 3 weeks so still on the same weight curve.

Shes very alert and content in the day (never stops wriggling) i suppose its worth saying that she doesnt really sleep in the day...maybe 2 x 30 mins.

Just to add mine slept like...erm...babies from 6 weeks, usually from about 10pm to 8am and I never, ever woke them to feed them

For a normal healthy baby they will let you know soon enough if they are hungry!

wolfcubEm83 · 01/11/2011 18:33

Thanks for your replies, my mother has also been telling me to wean her from 10 weeks so ill just continue to ignore her advice!!

Curryspice that will also be my new mantra Grin

:o

I literally only said it today when discussing a new baby with a friend of mine :o

TBH I think it's almost impossible to wake a baby that isn't ready to wake.

I think a truly asleep baby will sleep through anything. Whereas a baby that you've rocked for half an hour so that they'll have a nap when they are not really ready for one, will wake up if you breath too heavily Hmm

DD did this for a whille at that age - up to 13 hours sleep. Then she stopped. And has never been the same. ENJOY WHILE IT LASTS.

I wouldn't wake, enjoy the peace! I am green with envy. I thought my baby was a good sleeper when he was younger but never that good! It all went tits up at months but is slowly getting better now at 8 months.
