keeping 2yr old warm at night and not waking

since it got colder ds3 wakes periodically during the night, he comes into our bed freezing cold hands, I take him back, covers are on the floor, I snuggle him back in and he goes straight to sleep - very low maintenace but I guess he's only waking because he's cold.
He is already sleeping in socks, pj's and vest with duvet and fleece blanket. He would not tollerate a grow bag (and I have no intention of putting him back in one) and he is a restless sleeper, I check on him until we go to bed and everytime I go in he is uncovered - any suggestions on keeping him tucked in?
I'm shattered

All in one fleecy sleep suit?

lostlady · 31/10/2011 09:36

Maybe try bigger duvet; high tog; tuck it in really well on one side? Tho my dc can escape from any bedding, but I try Smile

Make his bedroom warmer?

savoycabbage · 31/10/2011 09:42

My dc sleep in those all in one fleece suits all through the winter. It's on average 11 degrees through the night. We have got the mothercare ones as they seem a bit less fleecey than some of the other ones.

So he's kicking the covers off in the night and that's why he's cold?

Is he in a cot or a bed, and what size duvet do you use? You could try turning the duvet round 90 degrees and tuck it right under the mattress to make it harder to chuck off in the night.

Alternatively, grobag have these duvet covers that zip on and are impossible to throw off. www.gro-store.co.uk/sleeping/baby-bedding.html

At 2yo I think we put the duvet sideways across the bed and tucked it in deep on the wall side

he's in a toddler bed, bigger duvet is good idea, might up grade to a single - brain a bit fuzzy from waking so I know its not rocket science but I was struggling to think! and I don't remember this being an issue with the other 2
jareth great idea but pricey so tucking duvet in first Smile
winnybella room temp is fine for other 2, they just stay under covers

Think I'll avoid fleecy all in ones if I can as he uses potty first thing so pj bottoms and pulls ups are great but I do have some we use for camping so if get desperate...
thanks x
