is there any other way other than controlled crying?

I've got a 6 month old baby that just won't sleep....for various reasons all his sleep associations have gone to pot.

He won't go down at night and won't sleep in a cot. I hate the idea of controlled crying, but I can't have him sleeping in my arms at night any more and in the bed. It's not doing any of us any good.

HELP.......

Redheadmum - Whats the problem with co-sleeping? We finally relaxed when we STOPPED trying to get ds to sleep in his cot. We had went through 8 months of hell trying to conform to everyone elses idea that "babies should sleep all night in a cot in their own room as soon as possible"..... Who said that anyway!!?!??

He co-slept with us from then on, everybody relaxed. Just as he turned 3.... he decided to sleep in his own bed.

nothing wrong with co sleeping, I've really enjoyed it the last 6 months.....but I feel ready to stop now! Also I have an older child who is not co sleeping and I think its causing her to be jealous. I know I could have them both in the bed (we have) but this hasn't worked!!

will do a search twigs and see what i come up with...thanks kids call must go!!

Hi, my 12mth ds has co-slept all his life with us, but it was taking longer and longer to settle him off to sleep in the first place and he was getting more and more restless and acrobatic in bed.

My dd was also finding it hard to accept that I spent so long in a darkened room several times a day trying to get ds to sleep.

We've just started to use the pick up/ put down method and it seems to be working well. I prefer it to cc as you never leave them.

If you want more info on this method, feel free to CAT me.

thanks Cheeky have just CAT you to get more info!

I think I've got to where you are....just 6 months earlier. I'm also a bit concerned that he s just not getting enough sleep, especially as he won't go down at the 7/8 bedtime....it means he' s in my arms until we go to bed and wakes up with any big noise. I'm thinking of getting a dream show to see if that helps him get off, and also a lambskin (?) to see if a soft and cosy thing will help him settle.

If you want a lambskin, I've got one for sale in good condition. £10 plus p&p. Bargain, since it cost me £35 new!! Let me know!

Hi

Have a look at the babywhisperer website - worked for me - dd was waking up every 45 mins.
