My 9mo ds is a bad sleeper generally, but he often wakes up within an hour our so of going to bed, writing and arching his back. He has just done it this evening, was screaming inconsolably and it took about 20 mins to get him off again - after he did a good few massive farts!! I am wondering if this is the problem and if there is anything I could change about his diet to prevent it. He is ebf and on 3 bfs during the day. Typical meals are:

Breakfast - porridge or weetabix with fruit puree plus some toast and/or banana.
Lunch - main meal like spag bol/ casserole/risotto/pasta and sauce/fish pie followed by plain yogurt and/or cheese, with bits of fruit as finger food.
Dinner - another main meal like above, followed by oatabix with fruit puree (given on advice of hv who said might help with sleep but has made no difference whatsoever).

Would appreciate any advice.

I had exactly the same problem with my DD until we eliminated onion from her diet. It was amazing the difference it made. Perhaps try and phase out one food at a time to see if that makes a difference.

It's not advised by FSIDS but at this age he would be able to do it himself, so possibly try putting him down on his front?

Alternatively a bit of baby massage at bedtime might help.

He'll be moving around lots in a few months and that will help lots.

I had the same problem with my DD who is allergic to dairy and soya but once they were eliminated she still had issues. Garlic seems to make her bad, and still does at 20mo. Hope it eases soon, it's awful to see them squirm.
