DTs not feeding at night but not sleeping through either!

Hi

The finer details are hazy as time seems to blur Grin

Our 4 month old DTs stopped feeding at night about 3-4 weeks ago. But they are still waking. A lot.

They def don't want/need feeding. The cry is different. But they wake 1-3 times each anywhere between 3.30 and 5.30 (and with 2 that's alot of getting up!). All they want is a little "shh" and to put a dummy back in before they go back to sleep. But then wake again in the same way about 30-60 mins later. (Which is odd because they don't rely on the dummy to go to sleep, but in the middle of the night it seems to help them go off again)

What can I do to help them sleep through? Or can anyone explain what's happening? It was easier when they needed feeding as that was a simple case of being awake once, feeding both then going back to bed uninterupted. I feel lke a jack-in-a box at the momennt!

Thanks
x

Silly question but have you tried feeding them? There is a big growth spurt around 4 months and because they wake so soon after, I'd actually try it.

You won't create bad habits - you can reduce the feeds gradually again after a few nights.

when fed my dts will go up to 3 hours (Envy that yours will go to 3.30 uninterrupted). sometimes I can get them back to sleep without a feed, but when they wake repeatedly, it normally signals hunger and a big feed sorts them out for a nice long period of sleep.

Iggy I'll try anything! Last night I think I was up about 10 times. They didn't seem hungry, in fact they weren't really awake, just coming to the "surface" of awake if that makes sense. But maybe a feed would help...

How old are your DTs MamaChocoholic? Initially ours were feeding every 2 hours which left just over an hour for sleep between feeds. Tiring wasn't the word! Hang in there! Smile

Um, mine are 12 months BB. They were actually quite good in the first months, going 3 hours regularly. Don't know what went wrong :(

19 times is hard going. Do you co sleep? After I get too tired I just sleep on my back with a baby in each arm just so I manage to get a few hours in a row.

Probably another silly question, but have you tried ignoring them? Hard if they are in your room of course. I don't mean if they are crying, but if they are just grumbling away, would they re-settle themselves?
