Urgent PU/PD Query

I have started pu/pd tonight with my 12mth old ds. He was really tired so it only took 25 minutes to get him to sleep.

My query is that I found that he was quiet the second I picked him up and started screaming the second he felt his back hit the mattress. So, I ended up pretty much putting him down and immediately picking him up again. Is this right?

My other problem is that ds only sleeps on his side or tummy. However, every time I put him down, he rolled onto his back to start screaming. As he was running out of steam, he let me roll him onto his tummy where he promptly fell asleep. Was this the right thing to do?

Thanks!!

My understanding of pu/pd is that yes, you do put them all the way down, even if you then just pick them up again. Otherwise you are basically then cuddling them which is not the point.

As for the tummy, absolutely yes, if that is where he prefers to be, I don't see a problem with that. There is no point in putting him in a position that will make him upset when you can put him in one where he will go to sleep.

Thanks!!

Should I try putting him down straight onto his tummy, or should I put him down on his back and roll him over??!!

Also, can I do a dreamfeed when doing pu/pd?

Questions, questions....

Dreamfeed and pu/pd are both baby whisperer suggstions so I would assume yes, they can both be used. Also, yes, put him down in the position where he is most comfortable so if that is straight onto his tummy, I don't see the problem with that. If it works, hey.....

Things going quite well, fingers crossed. He seems to just roll over onto his tummy when he gets fed up of being pu/pd, and goes to sleep with a large sigh!!
