Time to move into own room?

My DS is 20 weeks, and still waking up between three and six times a night. He is teething at the minute, but hopefully when this settles I'll move him into his own room. Just wondering if this move helped reduce night wakings for anyone. Also did you use a baby monitor, or does that defeat the purpose?
Thanks

Bit the bullet last night & moved DS into his own room. He had slept the best ever the night before, only waking twice in the night, so I was really hopeful. I went to bed early and of course couldnt get over to sleep as I missed being in our room!! I had just got over to sleep and the little rascal then woke up nearly every hour after midnight!!! Hoping that it will just take a night or two to get used to his new surroundings.

Leave him to scream him it out - after a couple of nights he will sleep through the night....

Bad mum here, but I love my sleep.

Much better last night, just waking at 12.30pm and 5am. He had several awakenings during the night but resettled himself within a few minutes. I really hoping he's catching on!!!!
