THOUGHT BABIES LIKED ROUTINE??

My DD is 11 months and for ages has slept 12 hours a night- 6.30-7.00am. Her nap is 9.30-11.30, then that's it til bedtime.
What's happened over the last week? She often wakes suddenly at night, screaming for 1/2 hours, and her nap no longer exists but she is SO shattered she's miserable. Her brilliant routine has just gone out the window.. Any tips?

Does she seem in pain? Teething maybe?

MrsBigD · 21/12/2005 13:38

If she's been that great before I'd go with LynnC... teething, cold, injections? Anything out of the ordinary?

Look at it this way... at least you've had months of 12hour nights . I'd kill for 4 hours in one stretch and ds is 16 months!

Don't think she's in pain as when we pick her up she stops crying but cries again when we put her back in her cot...

So she's cottoned on to blackmail
either that or maybe the issue is laying flat? Have you tried her slightly propped up?

followthestarlover · 21/12/2005 14:55

it could still be pain. ds was like this last week... chicken pox and teething.
calmer when picked up, but really, really upset when left in cot.
just because she stops when you pick her up doesn't mean she isn't in any pain... jsut means that she is a bit happier, and comforted by you!
ds did calm down when painkillers kicked in!

harpsiheraldangelssing · 21/12/2005 14:56

er yes I would say it sounds like pain if she stops when she is comforted
is it some molars coming through? that can be grim

I know its hard when your used to sleeping through to being wakened again. I had exact same (and still have) I started a thread 9 month waking at night then we changed it to 10 month waking at night (dd now 11 months but weve never changed the thread again) Unfortunately no advice other than maybe try bit of calpol to settle her incase she is in pain and feel free to join in the other thread might be some tips you pick up there.

CorrieDale · 22/12/2005 07:41

Has she been through any big developmental steps recently? Walking perhaps? That can trigger sleeplessness apparently. Otherwise, I'd whip out the calpol!

MollyMooMin · 22/12/2005 09:48

Gave her medised last night when she screamed after being in bed 30 mins! She settled after an hour or so. May be back teeth coming through...?

Hi MMM glad to hear you eventually got dd settled. Possibly is molars coming, not been through that myself yet but heard they can be a nightmare not looking forward to it - hope she is good tonight again.
