Falling asleep

How long does it take your toddler to fall asleep?

DS has been in bed since 7.45 and is still chattering to himself. He's totally happy, just saying "bang!" and "up and down, up and down" every now and then, perfectly cheerfully.

He tends to do this - it can take him an hour to go to sleep, but he's fully ready for bed (points to the cot, is happy to be there, etc). He can also go to sleep really quickly, especially at naps, but he usually does the chattering thing.

Hi QoQ... what you doing on your lone on this thread then?

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 20/12/2005 20:36

just killing some time........when I should actually be sorting the kitchen and ironing my uniform - as I'm working tonight

ChunkerXmasCake · 20/12/2005 20:36

Carry on - I'll start this again tomorrow when people are being less annoying.

I'll talk to you ... although I'll probably get accused of keeping you up

My dd used to do this up until she was about 3 - she would be quite happy to go to bed but would lie chuntering and chattering for about an hour. With us it was like everything else - it was a phase and it passed. Going to nursery when she was 3 helped, because she was so shattered that she just flaked out at bedtime, and she's been fine ever since.

ah I see... this is another of those threads that is bumping itself! Such a weird night.

I do hope that the gorgeous hinker is having a fabulous sleep. It will be so lovely to chat to her tomorrow and tell her that she has no need to worry about her chattering toddler. All he needs to do is phone DT1 and they can chatter on together until they sleep. As long as they are happy and go to sleep that's all that matters. Still.... I can tell her all of that TOMORROW!

QofQ - can you let us know the answers to the Great Clothing Quiz when you have a mo.

Sometimes, after he's had his bottle, ds (26 months) chatters to himself for a while before he falls asleep and he has very animated conversations with his teddies (exactly what do Roly Mo and Tigger say to each other??!) but if he's tired or poorly, like tonight, he turns over as soon as he's finished his bottle and goes straight to sleep.

ChunkerXmasCake · 20/12/2005 20:40

I'm planning on going to bed about 10pm, possibly 9.30 - didn't know I was going to have naughty toddler bedtime imposed upon me I'm not enjoying being in Coventry!

Thanks WWB! I think it's quite sweet really - he's practising words he's learnt recently, which is very sweet - I'll hear him "counting" or saying "danks" (thanks) - I have to resist going and scooping him out of his cot for a cuddle though!

It's sweet, isn't it - we used to hear dd telling her teddy bears little stories and singing (not so tunefully). I quite miss it, in a way.

ChunkerXmasCake · 20/12/2005 20:57

Yes, DS sits his teddies up and talks to them. When I go in to him in the morning, he often says, "OH!" and points to his bear's nose like I just HAVE to see!

my ds does this too - I only go in and tuck him up if he starts whinging which is hardly ever, luckily. It's so sweet when they talk to themselves - we usually say he's telling bedtime bunny about his day (how sad are we?!!)
