you basically give them a feed before you go to bed

wheresmyfroggy · 06/12/2005 20:10

whilst they are still asleep

What we do, and this is not from a book, just what I took it to mean. At our bedtime (normally about 10pm) I give dd a feed with minimal disturbance, so she is almost still asleep. Keep lights very low, no nappy change, no talking. The purpose being to try and avoid too many night wakings. With dd up until about 3 months, we would dreamfeed at 10pm, she would then wake for a feed at 3am and then go through till morning (7am approx). I am still dreamfeeding at 10pm (she is now 5.5 months) and the 3 am feed gradually moved later and later and recently (last 3 weeks or so) she has pretty much slept from the dreamfeed until morning (6.30am ish).

in theory....
will someone tell that bit to my ds2

wheresmyfroggy · 06/12/2005 20:17

DD1 fed perfectly in her sleep breast or bottle

DD2 wont have a bar of it she just wont suck when she is asleep or she wakes up and gets the hump

So it maybe just doesn't work with some babies

I used to wake mine up and give them a bath, massage, then bottle, with the lights low, no talking, give them a burp, and then give them the last oz... when they stopped waking for a feed I moved the bedtime forward half and hour/hour each week till they were going to bed at 7pm and waking up at 7am......

i just pick ds up out of the cot at 10pm. he keeps his eyes shut but opens his mouth! i dont talk and only have a small plug in nightlight. Then put him back in cot. dont think hes even aware of it now!
