how to stop feeding to sleep - advice gratefully received!

7 mnth dd is starting to pull herself up in the cot bed attached to our bed, and the time has come to put the side on, lower the mattress and move it away from our bed. Upto now we have been happily feeding lying down until dd is asleep.

I am so cack-handed putting her into the cot that she wakes again, only going off properly with booby.

How on earth can I get her off with minimum fuss once the cot side is up? I won't do cc.

I wish I could help. I feel like crap having been up approx 8 times, one of the times for around 2 hours, with a baby who will only be BF to sleep. Feeling very crap and grumpy

Maybe 7 months is too young to be trying to stop feeding to sleep.

Why don't you want to cc?

I'm worried she's going to fall out of her cot or wriggle across the bed - she naps there too when we are home.

I hate to hear her cry, but recognise a grizzle is par for the course. When I've tried getting her to sleep without booby before she starts getting frantic, and she then needs settling all over again. However she will go off no problem in the car seat or pram, so I know she can do it!

SleepySuzy I feel your pain! Dd usually wakes every one and a half hours for feed/comfort. I'm dreading having to wrestle her back into the cot each time, rather than quietly drifting off together...

It's a nightmare isn't it?

Isn't 7 & 8 months too young for CC?

I know it is against all advise but I always feed my DS alseep on the breastfeeding pillow and then lift him and the pillow into the cot as one. He is now 22 months and it still works. Did this with sone number one as well.

Do you do this in the middle of the night too?
