Does anyone else's DC sleep with their eyes open?

Yep. Two of them. DD2 is now almost 17 and still does at times. DD3 is 2 and a bit and is currently sprawled on the sofa next to me snoring with eyes half open. I ought to wake her as she hasn't yet had supper and it is now 6.15 with me so she'll be a total PITA to get to bed.

Only slightly open but I can see the irises. He's 3 months old

Yes ds does this. Sort of half open and they appear to follow me around the room but I think it might just be like one of those paintings that have eyes that appear to follow you I don't think he is actually watching me while he sleeps

And yes it creeps me out a little

Look the other way then! I really didn't like it when DD2 was tiny either, but she's never really not done it. Now that DD3 is doing the very same I suppose I am used to it. One of my DBs did it and mum said that I often enquired as to whether he was dead, but I was 3 at the time.

Oh I have one who does this. He got it from me! I shared a room with my sister and it terrified her .

Thankfully he is a very noisy sleeper - I spent enough time checking that his super quiet brother was still alive when he was very little without having to deal with no (discernible) breathing and open staring eyes simultaneously.

Both of mine do this from time to time, looks totally wierd! DS1 particularly prone to it when overtired for some reason - almost as if he's so tired he can't be arsed to close his eyes properly

DS2 often does it if he falls asleep in the car.

DS1 has always done it. He can also sit bolt upright and hold a conversation without actually being awake - it will be conversational tone, but the words are complete jiberish

DD does it sometimes

My DD has always done this and she's now 20

It is totally creepy and I have hated it but hey I dont have to sleep with her

DH does it also but with him I can only see the whites, which is really ugh.

I could be wrong but I believe people do it when they're completely relaxed.....might not make you feel quite so weird to know that.

In young babies, you can stroke downwards in their nose and it will close their eyes. Something to do with there not being independent muscle control yet.
Very cool technique though. Got my DS to sleep easily although that might just have been the nice stroking
