when newborn wwe were swaddling ds which worked like a dream, went coldturkey on the swaddle when he was 4months now 5.5months and is beginning to wake up in the night, what confuses me is how do I know if hes just grumbling, teething or hungry have spend hours shushing and patting then picking up to feed has a full feedthen sleeps. Sometimes I will know he's not hungry and will cry out in his sleep sounds like he is sore and then be really hard to resettle. Have gone back to the swaddle in the night as he took 2.5 hours to resettle and that helps but from having a ds who had begu to sleep from dreamfeed at 10pm till 7ish we now havea pickle that keeps waking in the night. We started to wean last week which has given us 2 good nights but other than that it feels like its getting worse. I am knackered and cant seem to get my head round it!
Any suggestions?

Sounds like he's ready to wean - if you've only just started it will take a little while to build up th amount of solids enough to keep him going through the night but it should dtart to get better in a few weeks (which probably sounds like a lifetime away to you!).

Good luck.

At this point a few weeks does sound like a lifetime but hopefullt it will be the answer so far he is doing really well at the weaning thing! I think what i find hard is trying to decide what is really going on if i could say i know he's definately not hungry or sore then I would find it easier to let him resettle himself at night but what with teething weaning and a cold I cant bring myself to just leave him and pat him while he cries! what a softie!
